Your character has a finite number of hearts that dwindle with every hit you take. Run out of hearts, your character will die, and your run will end. Another player may pick up your essence for a boost.
Phantom Abyss is a massive asynchronous multiplayer game that casts players into procedurally-generated temples and tasks them with retrieving the sacred relics hidden within deadly chambers. Intrepid adventurers will dodge scores of hidden traps, leap treacherous chasms, and flee relentless guardians through branching paths until one of the relics are claimed or the devices of death overwhelm them. Be warned, you only get one attempt at each temple and failure or settling for a lesser relic means you will never see that temple again... The cleverest players will use the phantom runs of failed attempts from other players to their advantage and avoid the missteps and mistakes that led to their doom. This ultimately leaves Phantom Abyss feeling like a treasure chest that’s only partially filled – it has its share of gems that shine brightly yet leaves enough space to make you wonder about the treasures that could have been.
Heal but better, as it also increases your health cap by one heart. If you have to choose between this and Heal, always choose the Heart Container.
There are four main levels, each based around an element like fire or water. At each main stage, there are six temple runs to choose from, and only three of them need to be completed to progress to the next zone.
Without the gimmick, game gets repetitive and boring really quick, it feels like you're incentivized not to play now but later instead to see other phantoms in the same temples as you are.
Unlock new whips to choose from before venturing into your next temple. Each whip carries a powerful blessing but also a curse that may complicate your attempt at riches and glory.
